Cardinal Love

3/31/2025

Crimson calls at dusk,
A duet of longing notes,
Echo through the woods.

Soft chirps intertwine,
Branches tremble from their sound,
Spring’s love serenade.

Rustling leaves converse,
Melodies weave through the air,
Hearts in cadence sing.

Chirping crescendos,
Rhythms pulse through morning light,
Nature's orchestra.

Quiet moments pass,
Harmony lulls the forest,
Peaceful afterglow.

Cardinals rejoice,
Their song an eternal bond,
Timeless symphony.
Cardinal feather hearts

“Long before I wrote stories, I listened for stories. Listening for them is something more acute than listening to them. I suppose it’s an early form of participation in what goes on. Listening children know stories are there. When their elders sit and begin, children are just waiting and hoping for one to come out, like a mouse from its hole.”
